About
My journey as a photographer began during my first trip to Europe. I documented my adventures using a point and shoot film camera borrowed from my Dad. Those early photographs hooked me on the ability to capture a moment.
My interest in photography grew in proportion to my life experience. Studying history at UC Santa Barbara proved the old cliché of a picture being worth a thousand words. Images of fallen soldiers at Gettysburg, of Freedom Riders in the South, or of protests at the Berlin Wall conveyed emotion that the written word failed to express.
Photography and videography provided the means to share my exploits as a snowboarder. Alpine sports are about beauty, the mountains, and the art of laying down the perfect turn. It is impossible to describe without visual aids. Photography and videography provided an outlet in which I could share my passion off the mountain.
Several years ago I noticed a change. Photography and videography became the driving force behind my decision making. I always had a camera on hand. Capturing the perfect moment became as important as the act of participation.
I began to invest in the craft of photography and videography. I studied Photoshop, Premiere and Aftereffects. I produced a more polished product.
This growth manifested in the production of several award winning short-films, and the genesis of long term photographic projects.
I am pleased to offer my work for sale through my website. I am also available for hire for portraiture, editorial, sports and action photography, videography, editing and production services.
